Meet our experts

Damon N. Cano, PharmD, is a graduate of the University of New Mexico. He spent 25 years as a Certified Specialist in Poison Information at the New Mexico Poison and Drug Information Center, where he also served as a mentor, preceptor, lecturer, and educator. Upon retirement, he immediately joined the webPOISONCONTROL project, a role he regards as the most important public service contribution of his career. In addition, Damon works as a hospice pharmacist for a locally-owned company and partners with local organizations to educate communities on the dangers of illegal drugs and substance abuse. Beyond pharmacy, he is an avid traveler, hiker, and trail runner. He enjoys sustainable gardening, with a special interest in cultivating native plants that carry a medicinal history and thrive in New Mexico’s dry climate.
