Dr. Blaine ("Jess") Benson is a semi-retired, nationally renowned and widely-published clinical toxicologist, investigator and educator. He began working on webPOISONCONTROL in 2012. Over the ensuing 12 years, he conceptualized much of the toxicokinetic logic driving the decision tool, authored more than 40% of the algorithms, and made critical contributions to the product databases and infrastructure. He is a former Diplomat of the American Board of Applied Toxicology and a past President of the American Association of Poison Control Centers. Dr. Benson was Director of two poison centers: the Nebraska Regional Poison Center (1988 to 1997) and the New Mexico Poison & Drug Information Center (1997 to 2014). He served as a tenured faculty member at the University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy from 1997 to 2014, attaining the rank of Regents’ Professor.
